A welcome from me to you
Dear prospective client,
You may have arrived here carrying something difficult to name. Perhaps you have told the story before and did not feel understood. Perhaps you have never said it aloud. Perhaps you are not yet sure whether what you experienced “counts,” or whether therapy is the right next step.
I want you to know that you do not need to arrive with perfect language, a clear timeline, or certainty about what you need. You are allowed to begin with questions. You are allowed to take your time.
I also understand that choosing a male therapist for work involving sexuality or sexual trauma may bring additional caution. At its core, this work belongs to you. I am here in service of your goals, and the work begins with your choices and remains guided by them. My responsibility is to show up consistently, explain what we are doing and why, respect your boundaries, listen when something does not feel right, and allow trust to develop at its own pace.
I am drawn to this work because sexuality and trauma both touch deeply personal parts of being human: our bodies, identities, beliefs, relationships, sense of choice, and ability to feel at home in ourselves. Too often, people carry these experiences in silence or believe they must make them easier for others to hear. You do not have to do that here.
My hope is that therapy with me feels collaborative rather than prescriptive. I will bring training, steadiness, honesty, and care. You bring the knowledge of your own life. We will decide together what deserves attention, what can wait, and what healing or change means for you.
If you decide I am not the right therapist, that is not a failed interaction. Fit matters, and your choice matters. If you do feel a sense of possibility here, I would be glad to learn more about you.
Warmly,
Neil
